This project was completed over three separate sites with differing levels of complexity. This included the installation of a new manhole and air duct on one of Christchurch's busiest streets, a major cycleway and an essential emergency services corridor meaning effective traffic management and stakeholder engagement were essential to minimise disruption.

The manhole required temporary diversion of the Western Interceptor to facilitate HDPE welding within the DN1350 sewer main. Works at Balfour Tce required further stakeholder engagement to work on the boundary of the Parakiore Recreation Centre, neighbouring pre-school and within the archaeological requirements for the site.

This portion of work included all aspects of constructing a new Odour Treatment unit, including site works, foundations, water, power and sewer connections and sewer pump installation.  These works were essential to improving residents' experience in the area by removing and treating sewer odours along the Western Interceptor.
