The Spark Hereford St building is being upgraded to improve its seismic performance. Previous works undertaken by others have included crack injection works and precast panel connection improvements, while the work that Hunter Civil is completing includes demolition, temporary works, and construction of reinforced concrete shear walls and floor tie slabs.

The upper levels of the building are currently vacant, but the lower levels consist of a live telecommunications data centre, adding to the complexity of the construction works. Specific dust and air management controls will be installed in the data centre to eliminate dust contaminating the communications equipment.

 

This significant scale project for one of NZ’s leading communication providers is also one of the most challenging projects in Hunter Civil's portfolio and will be a great opportunity to showcase our ability to complete technical concrete construction works in a vertical building.
