Hunter Civil are completing critical upgrades to the CCC watermain network within a below-ground utility tunnel running parallel to the Colombo Street overbridge between Moorhouse Avenue and Carlyle Street, in Sydenham.

The construction work involves:

  • Building a new entrance pit to the tunnel at the Carlyle St entry point,

  • Removal of existing asbestos watermain and replacement with a new watermain.

  • Removal of redundant gas main.

  • Deep excavation connection points to existing watermain outside of the tunnel.

 

The project is a technically challenging project with a range of complex risk profiles, including confined space entry work, specialist gas main removal work, asbestos control works and Level 2 traffic management at a high-profile CBD site.
