VALUE

850,000.00

Hunter Civil are duplicating a section of Nelson’s main rising sewer line to increase the capacity of the network for Nelson City Council. The existing network does not have sufficient capacity to convey the current peak wet weather flows, and this results in overflows into the environment.

These pose a risk to public health and have a detrimental impact on the environment and community. Secondary objectives of the project include adding redundancy and resilience to the wastewater system as well as future proofing for anticipated population growth.

The works are located at Martin Point, Monaco at a section where several existing pipelines meet the existing lines run from the Waimea Inlet and across to Bells Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The new section being laid is approximately 25m in length, connecting a disused rising main into the main network via an existing DN750 blanked wye connection junction. In addition to the main connection, recycled water lines will be connected to the rising mains to allow flushing.

The work site is an estuarine environment and is subject to tidal impacts and is close to nearby residential properties and water users.
